To mark the Silver Jubilee Year of Deepvihar Higher Secondary School established by The Mormugao Port Trust Education Society in the year June 1993, the Inaugural function was held on 1st September 2018 at the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Centre, Headland Sada.
The Function began with an Invocation Prayer dance by Vedha Khandeparkar of class Xl C Sc.
The Chief Guest for the function Shri. I Jeyakumar, IRTS, Chairman Mormugao Port Trust in his address stated that Education is a journey, a continuous process which has to be taken care of, so that everyone benefits. As the Management he mentioned that they have tried their level best to provide the required infrastructural facilities and supported the Institution whole heartedly. He also said as per the wishes of the founder Principal of the school Mrs. Victoria D’Lima, the Management can think of starting the College section.
The founder Principal of the Higher Secondary School Mrs. Victoria D’Lima was felicitated at the hands of the Chief Guest Shri I. Jeyakumar, IRTS, Chairman Mormugao Port Trust.
Mrs. V. D’Lima in her address spoke about the enthusiastic teachers and though the Institution is twenty five years old she found the teachers still young and energetic. She was glad that the students of Deepvihar HSS are in every nook and corner of the world. She advised the teachers to perform their duties responsibly for the well being of the students as we are going towards progress, we are fortunate to celebrate the Silver Jubilee Year. She said that we were teachers first, and then mentors and now we have to play the role of facilitators.
Principal Mrs. Mrunal Korgaonkar in her address highlighted the vision and concern of Mrs. Rani Noronha, the founder who sowed the seeds of Deepvihar Primary School and under the dynamic leadership of Mrs Victoria D’Lima emerged the Deepvihar Secondary School and Deepvihar Higher Secondary School in 1993.Starting with a batch of 60 students in the Science Stream with just one class, we have ten classes today with a student strength of four hundred and eighty students and Five thousand eight hundred and thirty students on roll in these twenty five years. She expressed her gratitude to the man with vision, Ex-Chairman of MPT Shri Arvind Bhatikar, IAS and the then President of MPTES. Present at the occasion were Shri. G.P. Rai, Dy. Chairman MPT and Ms. Pamela Alvares e Martins the first student of the school. Head of Departments, Dy. Head of Departments of MPT, Headmistress of Deepvihar High School and Headmistress of Deepvihar Primary School also graced the occasion with their presence.
Shri. Jerome Clemente , General Secretary of MPTES welcome the dignitaries for the function. Mrs. Valerie Antao introduced the Chief Guest Shri. I. Jeyakumar, IRTS, Chairman Mormugao Port Trust. Mr. Sunil J. Shet introduced the founder Principal Mrs. Victoria D’ Lima, Mr. Sanjay Banaulikar , Manager, MPTES, Deepvihar Hr. Sec. School proposed the Vote of Thanks and Ms. Maria Godinho Dias compered the function.
A year long activities and competitions have been planned for the Silver Jubilee Celebrations for the students and staff of schools and Hr. Sec. Schools at the Taluka and State level.
A Rangoli competition was held as the first activity on lst September 2018 for the students of the schools of Mormugao Taluka. Eighteen schools participated in the competition. The following were declared as winners:
Higher Secondary Section:
1st place : Keshav Smruti HSS, Dabolim
2nd place : Deepvihar HSS, Sada
3rd place : St. Andrews HSS, Vasco
High School Section:
1st place : Deepvihar HS, Sada
2nd place : Deepvihar HSS, Sada
3rd place : St. Andrews HSS, Vasco
The Judges for the competition were Mr. Devidas Surlekar and Mr. Nagesh Sardesai.
